KIEV, October 28 (Itar-Tass) — A voter turnout at Ukraine’s parliamentary elections has reached 44.94 percent, according to preliminary results the central election commission received from 176 of the 225 electoral districts.
A voter turnout in Ukraine’s Chernigov, Ternopol, Volyn and Vinnitsa regions has already exceeded 50 percent.
The lowest turnout is registered in the Kirovograd region (35.52 percent) and the Odessa region (38.59 percent) as well as in Crimea (39.6 percent). In the Ukrainian capital of Kiev 47.37 percent of voters have already cast their ballots.
The parliamentary elections are held in compliance with rules of the mixed electoral system – 225 parliamentarians are elected by party tickets and another 225 parliamentarians – in single-mandate constituents.
Twenty-one political parties are running in the election race.
The central election commission promised to make public the first preliminary results past midnight.
