ANKARA, October 28 (Itar-Tass) — Second-seed Maria Sharapova of Russia defeated Victoria Azarenka of Belarus (1) in the semifinal of the Women’s Tennis Association championships in Istanbul (Turkey) on Saturday: 6-4, 6-2.
Sharapova will meet American Serena Williams (3) in the final on Sunday.
In women’s doubles, the Russian pair, Maria Kirilenko and Nadezhda Petrova, defeated Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci in the semis. They will now face the Czech duet, A. Hlavackova and L. Hradecka, in the final on Sunday.
