NAZRAN, October 27 (Itar-Tass) —— A gunman who was wounded in a special operation in Ingushetia had a Shahid belt on him. The explosive device was equivalent to one kilogram of TNT, an Ingushetian police source told Itar-Tass on Saturday.
The special operation to detain gunmen was conducted in the Nasyr-Kort municipal district of the city of Nazran on Friday. A gunman, 30-year-old Husein Esmurziyev, was in a private house. He attempted to escape and offered armed resistance.
He threatened to set off the homemade explosive device on his body. The gunman opened fire at policemen, and was wounded when policemen fired back. Esmurziyev was taken to hospital.
An investigation into the case is underway.
