MOSCOW, October 26 (Itar-Tass) — Moscow supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Lebanon, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday after a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, who is the Russian president’s special envoy for the Middle East, and Fadi Hajali, charge d’affaires of the Republic of Lebanon in Moscow.
The sides discussed the Middle East, including the situation in Lebanon in the light of the October 19 terrorist act in Beirut, which was resolutely condemned by the United Nations Security Council, and urgent issues of bilateral relations.
Bogdanov praised the president and government of the Republic of Lebanon, its army and law enforcers for counteracting attempts to destabilize the situation in Lebanon.
“It was emphasized that all the questions of the Lebanese national agenda should be solved by the Lebanese in the legal field without any leads from abroad. The Russian side confirmed its invariable support for the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and the unity of the multi-confessional Lebanon,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
