Russia’s Finance Ministry does not rule out zero deficit budget in 2012

"It is quite possible that at the end of this year we shall see a deficitless budget,” Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said

MOSCOW, October 25 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Finance Ministry does not rule out that Russia’s budget toward the end of this year will have a zero deficit, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told a news briefing after the Cabinet’s meeting on Thursday.

He said “it is quite possible that at the end of this year we shall see a deficitless budget,” Siluanov said, adding that already now the budget had practically no deficit. At this point the annual budget’s deficit is expected at 42 billion rubles (0.07 percent of the GDP), which is equivalent to the statistical error.
