MOSCOW, October 25 (Itar-Tass) — President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Muslim believers in Russia on the occasion of an ancient Muslim holiday, Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bairam) which begins on Thursday.
"For many centuries this holiday has been imbued with kindness and light, it promotes rapprochement between people and ascertains the ideals of kindness, mercy, mutual respect and reveals a profound and never ending power of spiritual values of Islam.
The Muslim community in Russia makes a tangible contribution to the development of a dialogue between confessions and nationalities, takes an active part in charities, promotes family values and rebuffs extremism and ethnic intolerance,” Putin said in a message of greetings addressed to Muslim believers."
