MOSCOW, October 24 (Itar-Tass) — In 2013, Russia’s defence spending will amount to 2.1 trillion roubles, Chairman of the State Duma Defence Committee Vladimir Komoyedov said on Wednesday on the results of the Government Hour of questions and answers at the lower house of parliament at which the lawmakers heard a report of RF Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov.
“In the next few years trillions of roubles will be spent on the development and procurement of modern weapons. This are huge funds and they should be effectively used for equipping the army and navy,” Komoyedov stressed.
According to him, the share of the planned national defence spending will amount: in 2013 – to 2.1 trillion roubles, in 2014 – to 2.5 trillion roubles, in 2015 - more than 3 trillion roubles. The Duma committee chairman noted that in 2012 about 1.9 trillion roubles were spent on the same needs.
Komoyedov specified that 20 trillion roubles of funds allocated under the State Armaments Program until 2020 will, above all, be spent on the production of new types of weapons and military equipment. “It is planned to spend more than 100 billion roubles until 2015 on the nuclear weapons alone. The budgetary allocations on the Nuclear Weapons Complex will amount: in 2013-2015 - to 29.28 billion roubles, 33.3 billion roubles and 38.57 billion roubles, respectively. In 2012, the spending on nuclear weapons was 27.4 billion roubles,” he informed.
The spending on the provision of permanent housing for military personnel in 2013-2015 will amount to 18 billion roubles, 4 billion roubles and 10 billion roubles; on service housing for personnel in 2013 and 2014 - 10 billion roubles and 5 billion roubles, respectively.
“The lawmakers fully support the plan of the RF Ministry of Defence for the earliest liquidation of the lag in equipping of the army and navy with the latest technology, as well as for the further improvement of social security of military servicemen and their families,” Komoyedov concluded.
