Sverdlovsk region police looking for man suspected of killing 30 pensioners

An unidentified man had committed murders of women aged 79 to 90

YEKATERINBURG, October 24 (Itar-Tass) — Police in the Sverdlovsk region are looking for a man suspected of killing 30 elderly women, the press service of the regional department of the Investigation Committee /SK/ told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

All the crimes were committed in the Volga Federal District, the SK said adding that it does not rule out that the criminal might be hiding in the Middle Urals.

"The suspect's identikit has been circulated in the region and hanged out in public places," the press service underlined.

The investigators said an unidentified man had committed over 30 murders of women aged 79 to 90. In all the cases, he introduced himself as a condominium employee to enter their apartments. He then strangled his victims with a slip knot and escaped.

"Robbing the elderly women was low priority. Some of them have not been robbed," the press service said.

The last three murders were committed in Ufa in late September-early October. The investigators have the suspect on video and his identikit picture, the SK said.
