A powerful cyclone, accompanied with storm winds and heavy rains, is moving towards the Kamchatka Peninsula

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, October 24 (Itar-Tass) — A powerful cyclone, accompanied with storm winds and heavy rains, is moving towards the Kamchatka Peninsula. A storm warning has been issued. The inhabitants are advised to keep cautious.

An official at the Kamchatka Hydrometeocenter has told Itar-Tass that the atmospheric vortex is gaining in strength, approaching the Peninsula from the direction of Primorsky (maritime) Territory and is to hit Kachatka's south within hours.

The cyclone is to sweep Ust -Bolsheretsk District, Milkovo District's south, Yelizovo District, and Petropoavlovsk-Kamchatsky. In the Territorial center, heavy rains with snow will be accompanied with a wind blowing at a velocity of up to 20 metres per second. In the area of Cape Lopatka and Ozernovsky township, wind velocity will mount up to 25-30 m/sec.

According to weather forecasts, the cyclone will spread its influlence over to the northern areas of the Territory. An improvement of weather is expected here on Friday, October 26.
