RME plane with heavily wounded police officer heading to Moscow

MOSCOW, October 24 (Itar-Tass) — A Russian Ministry for Emergencies (RME) IL-76 plane carrying a police officer, who was heavily wounded by a bomb blast, has left Vladikavkaz for Moscow, an official at the RME information department told Itar-Tass early Wednesday.

The plane is to land at Ramenskoye airfield and the wounded officer will be rushed to an Interior Ministry hospital.

"The liner is fitted out with a medical module in which the blast victim is kept. Medical aid to him is being given by physicians of the Centrospas airmobile team," the RME official said.

On Tuesday the police captain was heavily wounded in the head by a bomb blast near a checkpoint. One medical operation has been already performed on him.

The nightly blast at the boundary of North Ossetia and Ingushetia killed one policeman and wounded another four. The checkpoint was fully destroyed. According to RME data, the explosive device was set off by a suicide bomber who was inside a car and was stoppe by police for an inspection.
