MOSCOW, October 23 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Vladimir Putin will chair the first meeting of the newly-created presidential council on the economic modernization and innovation development on October 24, the Kremlin press service reported on Tuesday.
“The agenda of the first meeting of the council features two issues. The first one is the establishment of mass production of composite materials to enhance competitiveness of civil economic sectors, the second issue is the formation of legal mechanisms of commercialization of the results of intellectual activity created at defence-sector enterprises as well,” the press service noted.
The council of the economic modernization and innovation development was set up by a presidential decree of June 18, 2012 to supersede the commission on the modernization and technological development of the economy. The competences of the new council include wording proposals on key areas and mechanisms of the modernization of the economy and innovation development, and coordinating efforts of the authorities, business and expert communities in this area. Members of the council are top-ranking government officials and representatives of the business community.
