Famous theater artistic director Yuri Lyubimov hospitalized with heart problems

On September 30 he celebrated his 95th birthday

MOSCOW, October 23 (Itar-Tass) — Famous theater director Yuri Lyubimov, former chief artistic director of Taganka Theater, was brought to a cardiology department of Moscow hospital No 23 on Tuesday. He is in stable condition; Lyubimov remains in an ordinary hospital ward, rather than an intensive therapy block, a source from the Health department of the Moscow government specified, speaking to Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

“Lyubimov was brought to our hospital, suffering from a heart attack, on Tuesday. He is staying in ward No. 4 of the cardiology department in condition of medium seriousness," a hospital source said. Only his close relatives and friends are admitted to visit Lyubimov in hospital. His wife has been permanently staying by his bedside, the hospital source said.

On September 30 Yuri Lyubimov celebrated his 95th birthday. On the occasion of his jubilee the Vakhtangov theater ran a play-The Devils, based on Dostoyevsky's novel, which was staged by the renowned theater maestro.
