RF, UNICEF to continue assist Tajikistan in healthcare

The vaccination of population against diphtheria is under way in Tajikistan

MOSCOW, October 22 (Itar-Tass) —— The possibilities of continued cooperation between Russia and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in rendering assistance to Tajikistan in the area of the health services continue to be studied, a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

The vaccination of population against diphtheria is under way in Tajikistan, said the source. The Tajik mass media covering this important event mention particularly Russia’s contribution: the Russian government allocated for this purpose in April 2012 the sum of 1 million dollars along the UNICEF lines.

“The vaccination of Tajikistan’s population against diphtheria is evidence of successful development of new partnership of Russia and UNICEF in which Russia acts as a donor assisting international development,” the source in the ministry said.
