Dmitry Medvedev said there is no need to create a specialised agency for fighting counterfeit products

In his opinion, the task is to create a system that will motivate one against buying counterfeit products

MOSCOW, October 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said there is no need to create a specialised agency for fighting counterfeit products.

“Frankly speaking, I do not support the idea of creating a specialised agency for that because combating piracy is not only a legal issue. It is also related to the economy and production processes. Finally, it is a moral task, too,” Medvedev said replaying to questions from participants in the “Anti-Counterfeiting-2012” Forum on Monday, October 22.

In his opinion, it is necessary not only to stop those who spread fake content but also sell uncertified products. The task is to create a system that will motivate one against buying counterfeit products.

“There is no way this can be imputed upon the Prosecutor General’s Office or the Interior Ministry or any specialised agency to be created for this purpose. I think it would be better to look for a comprehensive solution,” the prime minister said.
