MOSCOW, October 22 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has congratulated the veterans and employees of the Tupolev company on the 90th anniversary since the enterprises’ foundation.

The congratulatory message, according to the RF government press service, reads, in part:

“I congratulate you on the remarkable date - the 90th anniversary since the foundation of the enterprise, which is rightly named after the prominent aircraft designer Andrei Tupolev.

The know-how of your team has become an integral part of the country’s scientific-technical and defence potential. The enterprise has designed more than fifty types of serially produced civilian and military aircraft. Among them - one of the best bombers of World War II - the Tu-2, the world’s first supersonic airliner Tu-144, the unique hydrogen fuel plane Tu-155 and strategic aircraft systems.

Today, the designers and engineers of the company have new, ambitious tasks related to improving the competitiveness of the domestic aviation industry. The most important of them is the development of serial production of the Tu-204SM advanced medium-range passenger plane.
