MOSCOW, October 22 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia can have some benefits from the WTO membership in 5-10 years, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday.
“I do not believe that we will have the result in the near future, but in 5-10 years,” he said at a meeting of the first international forum Anti-Counterfeiting-2012 on Monday.
Medvedev noted that 200 years ago it was not needed to provide the trade rules common for all countries. “This is just because the space was much narrower, and there were less communications,” he noted.
“The fact that we joined the WTO means the only thing that we have an entrance ticket to the club of the countries, which decided to act on some concrete rules,” the premier remarked. “Does this give absolute pluses? No, it does not, it is obvious that there will be also some minuses in any sphere, but we will certainly win on the global scale some time in the future, just because we will bring our institutes in compliance with the activities of similar institutes in other countries,” Medvedev underlined.
