Criminal case opened over attack on Dynamo soccer players

According to police, three people, a Dynamo coach, a masseur and a soccer player, were hit

MOSCOW, October 20 (Itar-Tass) —— A criminal case is opened over the attack on Dynamo soccer players, official spokesman for the Russian Interior Ministry's Moscow regional department Yevgeny Gildeyev told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

The criminal case is opened on hooliganism charges, he said.

On October 19, Moscow Dynamo soccer players were attacked after their training at the base in Novogorsk near Moscow. Unidentified persons fired paintball guns at players and coaches of the team and escaped to the nearby forest. Leaflets with threats and demands to be more active in training and official matches addressed to Dynamo legionnaires were also left on the field.

According to police, three people, a Dynamo coach, a masseur and a soccer player, were hit.

The Dynamo football club and the Dynamo fans' club have made a joint statement, describing the incident as a provocation and a planned and organized action, to which the club intends to give a harsh response.

Incidents between fans and the Moscow club already happened earlier. In September, fans dropped leaflets near the Novogorsk base, in which they criticized the players.
