MOSCOW, October 20 (Itar-Tass) —— About 500 police will be commissioned to maintain law and order at the oppositional rallies in the center of Moscow on October 20 and 21, the city’s police force has told Itar-Tass.
The rallies were agreed with the authorities: on October 20, from 12:00 to 18:00 and on October 21, from 15:00 to 21:00. Each is expected to gather 1,500 demonstrators.
Twelve frame metal detectors will be used. Sharp items, large bags, and plastic, glass and other containers with liquids will be prohibited, the police press-service recalled.
The police asked everybody to be on guard and promptly turn to police when spotting suspicious people or unattended items at the sites of the rallies. Any attempts at violations of the law will be firmly terminated and those responsible, brought to justice.
