Aeroflot liner arrives in Washington after 24-hour delay

Originally, the plane was scheduled to leave Washington back for Moscow on Thursday. But in bad weather the liner had had to land in New York

WASHINGTON, October 20 (Itar-Tass) —— A Russian airlines Aeroflot passenger jet has arrived in Washington after nearly a 24-hour delay, the local Aeroflot official and one of the passengers waiting for the return flight have confirmed to Itar-Tass.

Originally, the plane was scheduled to leave Washington back for Moscow on Thursday. But in bad weather the liner had had to land in New York. Its passengers were later taken to Washington by bus. Some preferred to travel on their own. Aeroflot has promised to compensate for their transport expenses.

In the meantime, the passengers in Washington had to spend Thursday evening and night and then Friday evening in the airport’s boarding lounge. Many missed connecting flights.

However, as a witness has said, the passengers displayed remarkable patience and reserve. The Aeroflot personnel on duty were approached mostly for information. The causes of the delay are still unclear.
