TBILISI, October 19 (Itar-Tass) – The Georgian Central Electoral Commission on Friday published the final results of parliamentary elections held on October 1. The Georgian Dream coalition won 85 out of 150 deputy seats. The United National Movement of President Mikhail Saakashvili got 65 seats in parliament.
Representatives of the Georgian Central Electoral Commission told journalists that candidates of the Georgian Dream coalition had won the elections in 41 out of 73 one-seat constituencies. The United National Movement of President Mikhail Saakashvili won in 32 one-seat constituencies.
The Georgian Dream gained 54.97 % of votes on proportionate party tickets. That enabled it to gain 44 out of 77 seats on party tickets.
The United National Movement gained 40.43 % (33 seats) on the party ticket.
The parliament of the new convocation will gather for its first session in Kutaisi on October 21.
