MOSCOW, October 19 (Itar-Tass) — State Duma deputy from the United Russia Party Alexei Knyshov, whom the Russian Investigation Committee suspects of business activities, decided to refuse from his deputy mandate.
“Any legal dispute should be settled in the civilized way, on the basis of those legal documents, which were produced. Unfortunately, now I cannot produce relevant justifying documents, which refute the fact that I has worked in the top management of a commercial organization, which was registered in the Republic of Slovakia,” the lawmaker wrote in his blog.
Thus, he acknowledged that “if this issue is put up for consideration of the State Duma, my colleagues will have to vote for stripping me of a deputy mandate on the strength of all available documents.” Knyshov believes that “it would be not friendly to make my colleagues, fellow party members face such a difficult choice,” so, he “decided to take a very difficult decision for himself to refuse from the powers of a deputy of the State Duma.”
