MOSCOW, October 18 (Itar-Tass) — Rosneft continues to consider various options for participation in acquiring stakes at the TNK-BP, a Rosneft official has told Itar-Tass.
"The company continues to mull various options for action and will inform the market in accordance with an established procedure as the necessity arises," the Rosneft official pointed out.
It was earlier reported that Rosneft was negotiating for the buying out of the BP stake at the TNK-BP. Besides, a number of sources reported that the state-run company signed a non-binding agreement on the buying out of the stakes of Russian stakeholders -- AAR (Alpha Group -- 25 percent, Renova and Access --12.5 percent each) at the TNK-BP.
The TNK-BP is owned on a parity basis by BP and AAR, which have been involved in a corporate conflict in recent years.
BP may officially announce later on Thursday the start of negotiations with potential buyers, including Rosneft, of its stake at the TNK-BP.
