5 people killed, 33 injured in road accident in Stavropol territory

MOSCOW, October 17 (Itar-Tass) — Five people were killed and another 33 people were injured in a road accident with a bus en route from Makhachkala to Moscow in the Stavropol Territory, a source in the Ministry of Emergency Situations told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

“According to updated reports, four people died in the road accident instantaneously and another one died at the hospital later. Meanwhile, 33 injured people were hospitalized,” the source said

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has earlier reported about four people killed in the road accident and 20 injured people, two of them are children.

The round-the-clock federal hotline was opened over the road accident in the Ministry of Emergency Situations for relatives of the road accident victims.

The ministry reported that a car and a shuttle bus, which was carrying 39 people, collided at 07:10 Moscow time on Wednesday on the 40th kilometre on the Takhta-Ipatovo highway in the Ipatovo district in the Stavropol Territory.

The territorial road police reported that the driver of the bus, which skidded on the oncoming lane, is to blame for the road accident.

The investigation into the road accident continues.
