MOSCOW, October 17 (Itar-Tass) — A "Week of Russian Internet" conference, one of major sectoral events of the year in the field of new technologies, opens at the Expocenter here on Wednesday for a fifth time, this time in the status of an international one.
Experts and state officials are to discuss vital matters concerning the World Wide Web. Numerous panels, of which there will be more than 100, will deal with e-trading, online payments, Internet safety, network marketing, the development of mobile applications, and the development of the media in new realities. Attentio will be also paid to such topical themes of the recent days as the protection of children from injurious information, the observance of rights in Runet and development of e-democracy. Participants in the Runet Week will be also able to learn the most up-to-date statistics about the development of the Russian segment of the Web.
An organizing committee official said, "Russian business leaders, experts and specialists in infocommunications and Internet technologies, executives of Russian and foreign IT-companies, statesmen, officials of relevant ministries and agecies, and Internet users are invited to participate". The international status is an important peculiarity of this year's Runet Week conference which will be attended by executives of IT-companies of CIS countries and those in the Far Abroad. However, the organizers refer to format as a novel feature of the conference which brings together Internet gurus, talk shows, and presentations of the latest achievements of the IT-market.
Tens of companies such as the Kaspersky Laboratory, Rostelekom, Softkey, IC, Qiwi, Mail.ru, and Ozon.ru are to display the latest results of research and development efforts at an exhibition which is traditionally held within the scope of the Runet Week.
