TBILII, October 16 (Itar-Tass) — Leader of the victorious Georgian Dream coalition Bidzina Ivanishvili announced on Tuesday the lineup of the new government.
Speaking at a press conference in Tbilisi, the 56-year-old candidate for prime minister presented the new ministers. Economist Nodar Khaduri will be Finance Minister, experienced business executive Georgy Kvirikashvili will be Economics Minister, David Darakhvelidze will be Minister for Refugees, David Narmaniya will be Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure.
Khatuna Gogoladze becomes Minister for Environmental Protection, renowned Tbilisi medic David Sergienko will be Minister of Healthcare, Labor and Social Protection, and Georgy Margvelashvili will be Education Minister.
Kakhi Kaladze, 34, becomes Energy Minister. On October 8 he was offered as Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, but now the post has gone to Narmaniya. Ivanishvili noted that “Kaladze has no experience of work in the energy sector, but is a very talented person who grows quickly and masters new spheres”.
“We know Kaladze as a strong football player in the past, as a patriot and a man of principle having also certain experience in business. I am sure that in a month’s time everybody will see that he is also great on energy issues,” the coalition leader stressed, adding that Kaladze remains a deputy prime minister.
On October 8, Ivanishvili named 13 members of the new Cabinet of Ministers as well as two vice premiers.
