MOSCOW, October 16 (Itar-Tass) — Two persons have died and another 12 have been injured in a road accident involving a mini-bus in the Sakhalin region, an official at the regional department of the Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
The road accident occurred at a T-junction near the village of Khomutovo, when three vehicles, including the mini-buss, collided.
The mini-bus, en route to Korsakovo, collided with a truck at the crossroads of Prospekt Mira and the road to the airport. The powerful impact flung the mini-bus onto a car moving from the airport," the official said.
Two persons were killed on the spot and another 12 were hospitalized. Rescuers had to use special hydraulic tools to extract two victims from the cars, he added.
Road police are ascertaining the circumstances of the car crash.
