MOSCOW, October 16 (Itar-Tass) — The eighths congress of the Union of Architects of Russia opens in Moscow on Tuesday.
“The congress will approve the decision to set up a Russian chamber of architects,” the president of the Union, Andrei Bokov, said at a news conference on Tuesday. According to him, the setting up of a national chamber becomes particularly important after Russia has joined the World Trade Organization.
Upgrading professional skills, training and retraining of professional architects as well as arbitration will be among the functions of the new agency. The congress also plans to approve the Russian standard of architect’s professional activity. It will also approve documents on the introduction of changes in the town planning code to update the current legislation.
Participants in the forum will also listen to the report on the activity of the Union in 2008-2012. Specialists will make reports on copyright protection as well as the activity of regional organizations of the Union of Architects among other issues.
Union’s President Andrei Bokov, Vice President Viktor Logvinov, board member of St. Petersburg’s branch of the Union of Architects of Russia Vladlen Lyavdansky and other specialists will address the congress that will run for two days.
