LUXEMBOURG, October 15 (Itar-Tass) — Russia does not confirm the information that is being circulated by human rights organizations that Russian cluster bombs are ostensibly used in Syria.

"Although there is a lot of illegally supplied weapons in the Middle East and it is often very hard to indentify their origin," Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told journalists on Monday.

The human rights organization HRW earlier reported that Russian cluster bombs were used in Syria.

"There is no confirmation of that. The region is full of weaponry. It is currently brought both into Syria and other countries in huge amounts and illegally," Lavrov said. "The conflict internationalization geography is wide enough and weaponry there is in abundance," he added.

"The region is oversaturated with weapons: it is very hard to establish who, whence and how supplies ammunition or other types of armaments there," Lavrov pointed out.
