MAKHACHKALA, October 15 (Itar-Tass) — In the city of Kaspiisk, the Republic of Dagestan, Major of Justice Nurlan Ashurbekov, acting head of the Third Department for the investigation of particularly important cases of the SKR investigation department for Dagestan has been wounded in an armed attack on him.
A Department officer told Itar-Tass that an attempt on Ashurbekov's life was made at 23:00, Moscow time, on Sunday near House 5 in Dzerzhinsky Lane. An unidentified assailant fired at the Investigation Committer officer suppodedly from a Lada Priora white-coloured car and fled to an unknown destination.
It is believed that Ashurbekov's employment activity was the main cause of the attack on him. A field investigation group has been at work at the scene of the incident. Police are taking measures to identify and apprehend the attacker.
