Russian freighter bound for Iran aground in Volga-Caspian Channel

ROSTOV-ON-DON, October 13 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russian freighter Linda bound for Iran ran aground in the Volga-Caspian Channel overnight.

The accident occurred at the 153rd km of the channel on Saturday at 01:00 Moscow time. The vessel is registered in the port of Astrakhan. It was on the way from Astrakhan to Iran.

The incident disrupted shipping, but it resumed in the morning.

The Linda crew has food stores for 14 days. An operation is underway to remove the ship from the ground. There is no oil leakage.
