MAKHACHKALA, October 12 (Itar-Tass) — An explosive device was set off when the motorcade of the mayor of Khasavyurt, Dagestan, was driving along Yuzhny Street. The mayor, Saigidpasha Umakhanov, and the persons accompanying him were not harmed, the regional department of the Investigative Committee told Itar-Tass.
The explosion occurred at 12:30, Moscow time. Umakhanov's Toyota was damaged. A group of investigators is working at the scene. Police are questioning eye-witnesses.
