MOSCOW, October 12 (Itar-Tass) — Sheremetyevo airport on Friday opened Runway One after the repair.

It is accepted for aircraft landing and taking off, Sheremetyevo reported.

The repair was completed three days earlier than originally planned.

The airlines and appropriate organizations are informed about the repair completion.

Runway One was partly closed for repair on October 1, 2012. Planes that do not need long runways used it for taking off. The second runway was used in full.

During the time, the runway cover was repaired. In particular, 24 slabs, a total of 1,350 sq m, were replaced, joints and cracks were repaired and sealed up, and some of the light signal equipment was replaced.

As was earlier reported, the closure of the section of the runway caused a conflict with the base airline – Aeroflot. The airline management demanded to dismiss Sheremetyevo Director-General Mikhail Vasilenko, accusing the airport of mass delays of flights due to the repair.
