ULAN-UDE, October 12 (Itar-Tass) — The first snowfall in Buryatia has disrupted power supply, leaving more than 12,000 people in 15 settlements in the Kizhinga district without electricity overnight, the Russian Emergencies Ministry's department in the Republic of Buryatia told Itar-Tass.

The supply was resumed in full in the district centre of Kizhinga in two hours and 30 minutes, thanks to the prompt operation of Buryatenergo company workers. Specialists of the company and a group of the Kizhinga fire prevention service were continuing working in the affected villages, a departmental source said.

The department for emergencies warns that the weather will worsen in the south of the Baikal region, southwestern and central districts of Buryatia and then all over the republic. Winds of up to 22 m/sec and sleet are expected. Weather forecasters warn that there may be snowfalls, snowstorms and sticking wet snow. The temperature may drop to 10 degrees below zero. Roads may be covered with ice.
