MOSCOW, October 11 (Itar-Tass) —— The smoking of a soldier at the ammunition depot caused the ammunition blasts in the Orenburg Region, a source in the main military investigation department in the Russian Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
Private Alexander Kasatkin confessed that he was smoking a cigarette in violation of the rules, and did not make sure that the cigarette ash is extinguished, as a result the boxes with ammunition caught fire ten minutes later.
The criminal case was opened against him under Article 217 Part 1 of the Criminal Code for violation of the security rules at the explosion-hazardous facilities that entailed massive damages.
