Criminal case opened against soldier over ammo blasts in Orenburg region

Private Alexander Kasatkin turned up voluntarily in the investigation bodies

YEKATERINBURG, October 11 (Itar-Tass) —— Another criminal case was opened against a serviceman over the ammunition blast at the Donguzsky firing range, a source in the main military investigation department of the Russian Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

The criminal case was opened against handler Alexander Kasatkin under Article 217 Part 1 of the Criminal Code for violation of the security rules at the explosion-hazardous facilities that entailed massive damages. He confessed in smoking at the ammunition depot.

Private Alexander Kasatkin turned up voluntarily in the investigation bodies. He explained that he did not make sure that the cigarette ash is extinguished and threw it away, as a result the boxes with ammunition caught fire ten minutes later.

The criminal case was combined with the previously instituted criminal case under an article of the Criminal Code for violation of the handling rules with weapons and objects of high danger for other people.
