Cargoes confiscated by Turkey from Syrian plane are of no RF origin

Overnight to Thursday, Russian diplomats arrived at the Ankara airport, where the airliner of the Syrian Airlines had made a forced landing

ANKARA, October 11 (Itar-Tass) —— The cargoes, which the Turkish authorities confiscated from the Syrian airplane, are of no Russian origin, Consul of the Russian Embassy in Ankara Yelena Kara-Sal told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“These cargoes are still reported to be of no Russian origin. Employees of the embassy will get in contact with the local authorities to find the details,” she said.

Overnight to Thursday, Russian diplomats arrived at the Ankara airport, where the airliner of the Syrian Airlines had made a forced landing. The airliner was carrying 37 people, including 17 Russians with children.

Turkish Transport Minister Binali Yildirim stated that the republican authorities “exercised their rights under the international legislation in the civilian air traffic,” forcing the crew land the airplane.

“Civilian airplanes, which make regular flights, are banned to transport military cargoes, which have combat importance. Meanwhile, it is needed to get a permit from Turkey ten days before the flight to deliver such cargoes. Under these rules the airplane was forced to make a landing,” the minister explained.

He also noted that Turkey is ready to take similar measures in the future in case of necessity.

The Syrian airliner has stayed in the republic for about nine hours. The Turkish authorities confiscated more than ten sealed containers from the airliner.
