Police establish identity of driver responsible for actress' death

Earlier, Rusakov had already been implicated in violation of traffic rules and given administrative punishments

MOSCOW, October 10 (Itar-Tass) — Moscow police have established the identity of the driver who provoked a tragic traffic accident last night in which a prominent actress, Marina Golub, was killed.

The owner of a Cadillac which rammed the car where the actress was is Alexei Rusakov. Police currently have been checking who exactly was at the wheel at the moment of the accident. According to a preliminary version, the driver was the car owner. Police do not rule out that the driver was drunk at the wheel, Moscow police told Itar-Tass.

Earlier, Rusakov had already been implicated in violation of traffic rules and given administrative punishments. The offenses in which Rusakov was implicated were drunk driving and driving on traffic lanes for the oncoming traffic.

A criminal case has been opened into a traffic accident in which the actress was killed, the press service of the Moscow Head Interior department said. The criminal case was opened on charges punished by the Russian Criminal Code for violation of traffic rules which entailed death of two and more people as a result of carelessness, the press service said.

The accident occurred shortly after midnight at the crossroads of Prospect Vernadskogo and Lobachevskogo street. Police reported a Cadillac driver ignored banning street lights and rammed the Hyundai, where the actress was. Afterwards, two more cars - a Kia and a Lada, rammed the two cars involved in the accident. The actress was killed on the scene.
