MOSCOW, October 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Moscow hopes for the soonest resumption of the dialogue between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
“We invariably support further contacts between Tehran and the IAEA aimed at a prompt settlement of all the outstanding problems concerning Iran’s nuclear program,” the ministry said in comment of the statement of IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano that the agency and Iran would not be able to hold a next round of talks in October.
Russia states its position at a New York meeting of foreign ministers on the Iranian nuclear program on September 27. Russia was a co-author of the resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors on September 13. The resolution was called to promote a dialogue between the agency and Iran.
“We hope both parties will be guided by the corresponding resolutions of the IAEA Board of Governors and will soon resume their constructive dialogue to re-build international trust to the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program,” the ministry stressed.
