Moscow calls on Israel and Palestine to maintain lull

“We think Israel’s disproportional actions that hurt peaceful Palestinians unacceptable,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed

MOSCOW, October 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Moscow calls on Israel and Palestine to show restraint and to maintain the lull, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

“The situation around the Gaza Strip has recently aggravated,” the ministry said. “On October 7, Israel’s air force delivered an air strike against Gaza that killed one Palestinian and wounded more than ten people, including children. On October 8, according to reports reaching from the area, Palestinian militants fired about 50 missiles and mortar shells at Israel, no one was hurt.”

“We condemn the shelling of the Israeli territory that endangered the lives of civilians,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed. “We think Israel’s disproportional actions that hurt peaceful Palestinians unacceptable.”

“It is necessary that both parties show restraint and maintain the lull,” the ministry noted. Moscow proceeds from the principles that “only political and diplomatic efforts can lead to the stabilization of the situation at the Palestinian-Israeli sector and in the Middle East region in general.”
