MOSCOW, October 9 (Itar-Tass) — The Finnish Social Service has made a decision to take Russian citizen Anastasia Zavgorodnyaya into custody with her new-born baby where she is to stay for six months pending court resolution, Finnish human rights activist Johan Backman told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
The Finnish side satisfied the Russian woman's request to let her feed the infant in arms, but decided to lock the Russian woman in a special prison cell with her daughter. "The woman has been imprisoned for six months, and she is not allowed to walk out although the baby needs fresh air," Zavgorodnyuk herself told Backman.
The court is to a make a final decision on taking the prisoner's children, who are staying at an orphanage now, away from their mother. In Backman's opinion the Finnish authorities have put the Russian woman under pressure to make her give up her own children.
In September a Finnish local Social Service took away the children from their Russian mother, Anastasia Zavgorodnyaya, who lives in Vantaa, under the pretext that her six-year old daughter complained at school that her father had slapped her on the back. The schoolteacher reported the incident to the Social Service which took the elder girl and the twins away from the family. Later, they also took away the baby which was barely ten days old.
The kids' mother is not allowed to see her children as much as she wants; neither she is allowed to feed the baby with breast milk. The Russian woman denied any wrongdoing against her own kids.
