GROZNY, October 8 (Itar-Tass) — Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov on Monday dismissed Muslim Khuchiyev, the mayor of Grozny, for violations in allotment of land plots. The new mayor, Islam Kadyrov, will be the acting mayor of the Chechen capital.

Ramzan Kadyrov said that he had warned the mayor’s office many times that he wouldn’t stand any breaches linked to the land issues. Nevertheless, Muslim Khuchiyev has ignored Kadyrov’s warnings.

President Kadyrov has already fired the heads of the Grozny and Kurchaloy districts as well as other officials. He added that under no circumstances would he turn a blind eye on land fraud.

Prior to his new appointment, Islam Kadyrov had been minister of property and land relations of the Chechen Republic and first deputy mayor of Grozny.

“He has proven that he’s capable of solving complicated tasks, knows municipal economy and the city, and we hope that he will manage to correct all the violations,” Kadyrov emphasized. He also said that the city should create favorable conditions for investments and development of small and medium businesses.

The ex-mayor of Grozny Muslim Khuchiyev submitted his resignation letter on Monday.
