PORTOVAYA BAY, Leningrad region, October 8 (Itar-Tass) — The memorandum on the construction of the third and fourth stage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline can be signed until January 31, 2013, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov told reporters.

The pipeline can be laid to Great Britain, as one of Gazprom’s British partners showed interest in the project, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said inaugurating the pipeline’s second stage on Monday.

Earlier in the day the shareholders’ committee of Nord Stream recognized economic expediency and technical possibilities of the construction of the pipeline’s third and fourth stages. Until the end of the first quarter of 2013 a new company will be created to implement the project.

Nord Stream shareholders are Gazprom, which owns a 51 percent stake, Germany’s Wintershall and E.ON Ruhrgas with a 15.5 percent stake each, the Netherland’s Gasunie and France’s GDF SUEZ with a 9 percent stake each.
