BRYANKS, October 8 (Itar-Tass) —— Russia’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) will withdraw its candidate for Bryansk region governor to support Nikolay Denin, a candidate of the ruling United Russia party, LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky told a news conference on Monday.
“We completely support Denin,” he said, hinting that this “alliance” is meant against a Communist Party candidate, Vladimir Potomsky.
Meanwhile, Denin’s participation in the gubernatorial elections is up in the air. On October 5, the Bryansk regional court withdrew his registration as candidate under a claim from Potomsky of the Communist Party, who maintained Denin’s signature lists had numerous violations. Denin has challenged the court award with the Supreme Court, which is to pronounce its verdict in five days.
