United Russia demands probe into facts stated in Anatomy of Protest-2 film

Zheleznyak is convinced that the radical opposition is looking for any way to blow up society

MOSCOW, October 6 (Itar-Tass) —— One of the leaders of the ruling United Russia party and State Duma Deputy Speaker Sergei Zheleznyak said he is drafting a request to law enforcement agencies, asking them to start an investigation into facts mentioned in the Anatomy of Protest-2 documentary shown on one of the federal television channels.

“The film states things that must be investigated most thoroughly because they mean serious crimes such as preparation of terrorist acts using organised criminal groups and foreign secret services,” Zheleznyak said on Saturday, October 6.

“First of all, law enforcement agencies must make sure that the persons mentioned in the film, including in connection with the preparation of terrorist acts, do not leave the country,” he added.

The second part of the controversial film “Anatomy of Protest” appeared on NTV on Friday, October 5. Its authors exposed mechanisms used for providing funding to the so-called non-system opposition in Russia. They claimed that some funding could be provided by former Bank of Moscow CEO Andrei Borodin through Givi Targamadze, former head of the Defence and Security Committee in the Georgian parliament. According to the authors of the film, Sergei Udaltsov, Left Front coordinators, was one of the actors in spurring the protest movement in the country.

Zheleznyak is convinced that the radical opposition is looking for any way to blow up society. “They are ready not only to take money from foreign secret services and fugitive oligarchs who have been caught in the act of stealing, but also spill people’s blood,” he said, adding that this is what the organisers of protests were sought to achieve, judging from the facts mentioned in the film.

According to Zheleznyak, “this are not opposition, these are criminal activities”.

“I will see to it that those responsible get their share if punishment. A public figure who has descended to dealings with terrorists, criminals and foreign secret services, who is ready to subject innocent people to death is no longer politician, he is a traitor who deserves neither respect nor condescension,” the MP said.

Duma Security Committee Chairperson Irina Yarovaya stressed that the facts mentioned in the film were “the unconditional basis for an investigation into what has signs of a criminal act”.

“The bunch of criminal intentions and criminal acts collected in the film is very serious both in terms of substance and in terms of public threat and danger for our people, especially when it comes to possible terrorist acts,” she said.

In her opinion, “the volume of funding and the masterminds [mentioned in the film] suggest that activities were well organised”.

“There is such a notion in law as prevention of a crime,” Yarovaya said. “The ‘Anatomy of Protest-2’ film is an expose that may as well have prevented grave consequences of criminal designs. I think that law enforcement agencies must protect public security.”
