Pension money stolen in Russia's N Caucasus region

MAKHACHKALA, October 5 (Itar-Tass) —— Armed criminals attacked a vehicle carrying a consignment of cash money in the Botlikh district of the North Caucasian region of Dagestan and stole 13.52 million roubles that was to be distributed to the district’s residents in pensions, a source at the regional Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday.

“Four unidentified armed men in fatigues and masks driving a Lada car stopped a Nissan Qashqai and an accompanying UAZ van on the Botlikh-Miarso automobile road at 10.40 Friday. The Voskhod company employees including the director and the accountant were riding in the van”, the source said.

The criminals robbed Nissan at gunpoint and made a getaway with the money.

An hour later the burned-down Lada was sighted in the two-kilometer distance from the township of Botlikh. A handgun was found in it.

A Volcano-4 operation was launched to catch the attackers but the police did not report any reassuring results by the time this story went on the newswire.
