Oil processing plant fire death toll in Yugra rises to ten

One more victim has died in the regional hospital in Khanty-Mansiisk

TYUMEN, October 5 (Itar-Tass) — The processing plant fire death toll in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area (Yugra) has risen to ten. One more victim has died in the regional hospital in Khanty-Mansiisk, the press service of the Investigative Committee's regional department said.

The fire broke out at an oil processing plant of the Invest-Oil company at the Priobskoye field on September 29. The fire killed eight workers, and other eight people were hospitalized. Four of them are undergoing treatment in Moscow now.

A criminal case has been opened over the fire on charges of safety regulations violation that caused deaths. One more suspect, the foreman who was directly in charge of the works, is detained. The Invest-Oil director-general and the company's technical director were detained earlier.

A number of forensic examinations are ordered over the case.
