Rogozin to introduce new Rosoboronzakaz head to personnel

Potapov was appointed to the post in early October by RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev

MOSCOW, October 5 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin on Friday will visit the Federal Service for the Defence Order (Rosoboronzakaz) where he will introduce to the agency’s personnel its new head Alexander Potapov.

Potapov was appointed to the post in early October by RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. “Rosoboronzakaz has been put under the government’s jurisdiction in order to improve its performance and I appointed its new head today – Alexander Potapov,” Medvedev said at a meeting with arms specialists of the Central Scientific Research Institute of Precision Machine Building (TsNIITochMash) on Wednesday, October 3. “I hope that he will watch supply questions very closely,” the prime minister added. He also instructed Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin to “coordinate [work in] this area.”

Alexander V. Potapov was born in Moscow on February 23, 1963.

In 1986 he graduated from the Bauman Moscow State Technical University with a specialisation in optoelectronic devices, qualification - mechanical engineer. He holds the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences.

In 2002 - 2004 he held the position of Deputy Director General of the Russian Conventional Weapons Agency.

In the period from 2004 to 2008 he headed the Conventional Weapons Department of the Federal Industry Agency.

In July 2008 he was appointed director of the conventional weapons, ammunition and special chemicals industry department of the RF Ministry of Industry and Trade.
