MOSCOW, October 4 (Itar-Tass) -- The Moscow authorities have authorized a picket in memory of Anna Politkovskaya which will be held in Novopushkinsky boulevard in Moscow on October 7, a representative of a security department of the Moscow administration said on Thursday.
A group of citizens have submitted an appeal, asking to authorize the picket in memory of Politkovskaya, the source said. The regional security department has coordinated the site of the picket which may be held in the Novopushkinsky boulevard on condition that the pickets do not trespass onto Pushkin square because it will be used for another public event, he said.
The picket was authorized from 2.00 to 4.00 pm Moscow time with the number of participants numbering up to 200.
Journalist Anna Politkovskaya was killed in the entrance to a residential block where she lived in Lesnaya street in Moscow on October 7, 2006.
