MINSK, October 4 (Itar-Tass) —— Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko is going to initiate Georgia’s return to the CIS.
“The way I see it, next year’s CIS summit will most probably gather in Minsk. I shall initiate in every possible way Georgia’s return to the CIS. It will be my function then,” he said.
“The work load on the Georgian politicians will not be very great,” he said.
“Even if Saakashvili’s party emerged the winner, I am certain that Saakashvili, too would be a member of the CIS next year,” Lukashenko said, adding that Belarus would keep working along these lines.
“We cannot afford to lose Georgia,” the Belarussian leader said.
