US accusations against Russians in military tech exports criminal

MOSCOW, October 4 (Itar-Tass) —— The US accusations against several Russian citizens in the exports of military technologies to Russia are criminal and are not related with intelligence activities, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said here on Thursday.

“The accusations were brought against several Russian citizens. The accusations are criminal and are not related with intelligence activities,” Ryabkov said. “We have already received an opportunity to hold a consular meeting with a defendant, and are working on consular meetings to be arranged for other people put under arrest,” he underlined.

The Russian foreign agencies in the United States and the relevant departments in the Russian Foreign Ministry are following closely the current situation, the deputy foreign minister went on to say. “The situation is quite unclear. This causes serious concerns,” Ryabkov pointed out.

Russia hopes that the rights and interests of Russian citizens “will be ensured definitely by the US side.”
